In celebration of the PE Festival Week and International Dance Day, the second-year Bachelor of Physical Education (BPEd) students of the College of Education culminated their BPE 112 International Dances course at the university gymnasium with a dynamic and culturally rich performance event titled: “Himig at Galaw: Sayaw ng Lahing Pilipino – A Culmination of Rhythm, Culture, and Dance” on April 29, 2025.

Held under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Rovie Gretchel P. Bucad, the culminating program showcased both the technical and expressive competencies of BPEd students in international and local dances, highlighting the impact of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) in practice.

The two-part program featured traditional international dances—including Spanish, Irish, Chinese, and Dutch folk dances—and global dance genres fused with Original Pilipino Music (OPM) such as ballet, Latin dancesport, waltz, jazz, and hip-hop. The performances were creatively choreographed and passionately delivered, reflecting the diversity and unity of global influences that shape Philippine culture.

One of the most anticipated segments was the Unity Dance Finale, set to “Magsayawan” by VST and Company, which brought all performers together in a vibrant celebration of Filipino rhythm and identity.

Incorporating the principles of OBE, the culminating event provided a platform for students to: exhibit mastery of dance technique and performance, demonstrate creativity and cultural awareness, collaborate effectively in group presentations, and promote inclusivity and national pride through artistic expression.

The activity concluded with a formal message of appreciation from Asst. Prof. Bucad, commending the students’ hard work and dedication.

The BPE 112 Culminating Activity exemplifies how physical education can serve not only as a tool for fitness and expression but also as a means to promote cultural literacy, unity, and inclusive education.
