CCS graduate student presents Pedestrian Safety Research at PACIS 2025 in Malaysia

Jul 31 2025

Ms. Jyresa Mae M. Amboang, an MS Computer Applications DOST-ERDT scholar from the College of Computer Studies (CCS), successfully presented her research on urban pedestrian safety at the Pacific Asia Conference on Information Systems (PACIS) 2025 on July 5 to 9, 2025, held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Her paper titled “ICT-enabled Technologies for Pedestrian Safety: A Scoping Review” was presented under Track 4: IoT, Smart Cities, and Digital Government. Amboang’s work was among the 242 accepted papers from 544 submissions to PACIS 2025, which she co-authored with Prof. Adrian P. Galido and Asst. Prof. Apple Rose B. Alce. The study reviewed ICT solutions for crosswalk safety, highlighting AI detection accuracies and sensor fusion while also identifying challenges in scalability and inclusive design.

PACIS 2025, organized by the Association for Information Systems, brought together scholars and researchers from across the Asia-Pacific region under the theme “Diversity and Inclusion in Information Systems.” The conference featured keynote presentations, including one by Prof. Jason Bennett Thatcher, an internationally respected scholar in digital leadership, cybersecurity, and technology-enabled decision-making. He encouraged academics to “write boldly, cite diversely” and to rethink traditional research approaches. The event also included panel discussions on emerging technologies and networking sessions that connected researchers, industry practitioners, and policymakers.

“I am especially grateful to Prof. Galido and Asst. Prof. Alce for their guidance and belief in this work. The conference provided a good opportunity to network and share our findings with an international audience,” Amboang shared.

This achievement highlights ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø-IIT and CCS’ sustained and growing presence in international academic research and commitment to innovative technology solutions.
