On August 9, 2025, children of job order employees and security personnel at ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø-Iligan Institute of Technology (²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø-IIT) took part in learning and enrichment activities during the PAGMATUTO 4.0 outreach program held at the College of Education (CED) Amphitheater.

PAGMATUTO 4.0 is an initiative spearheaded by the College of Education - Executive Council (CED-EC) in partnership with the CED Education Students’ Organization (EDSO) of ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø Main Campus Marawi, the Rotaract Club District 3870, and the Rotaract Club of Iligan.

The event opened with interactive sessions on Basic Numerical Literacy, Food Pyramid, and Health and Well-Being, designed to strengthen the knowledge and skills of the young participants. Student volunteers facilitated activities through storytelling, discussions, and peer tutorials, making the experience more engaging.

In her opening remarks, Prof. Amelia T. Buan, CED Dean, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the university’s service personnel, emphasizing that the program was a meaningful way of giving back to them by nurturing and supporting their children. She also highlighted the expansion of the program to reach and benefit more children across the entire ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø system.

School supply kits and snacks were also distributed to all beneficiaries as an appreciation, bringing smiles to the children and their families.

CED-EC adviser, Assoc. Prof. Chiedel Joan G. San Diego affirms CED-EC’s commitment to serve first the community we call home. “PAGMATUTO will continue to evolve as we listen to the needs of the people and work to sustain its impact,” she said.

Governor Christian K. Lachica of CED-EC also shared that together with their partners, they have been able to build strong bridges between the university and its neighboring communities.

Now in its fourth run, the program continues to serve as a platform where future educators and student leaders apply their academic training to respond to the needs of various communities.

As part of its structured offerings, PAGMATUTO 4.0 provided tailored learning experiences for different age groups. For elementary and daycare learners, activities included storytelling, lectures on numeracy, health and well-being, Go-Grow-Glow foods, peer tutorials, and assessments. Meanwhile, for high school students, the program featured timely and relevant lectures on the proper usage of artificial intelligence, the Anti-Bullying Act, and financial literacy, capped with assessments to gauge learning.

Beyond local impact, the program contributes directly to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). By equipping learners with knowledge, promoting healthy living, and fostering strong collaborations, PAGMATUTO exemplifies how student-led initiatives can drive progress in both education and social responsibility.

The program also marked the culmination in the Brgy. Del Carmen, Digkilaan National High School, Gadongan Elementary School, Brgy. Saray Day Care Center, and the Badjao Community of Brgy. Tambacan.

Through PAGMATUTO, the CED-EC continues to embody the college’s mission of nurturing not only competent teachers but also socially responsible leaders who value service and community engagement.
