²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍø-IIT retains spot as among the world’s best in the THE World University Rankings 2026

The ²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍø – Iligan Institute of Technology (²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍø-IIT) affirms its position as a Philippine world class university. The university, together with Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU); University of the Philippines (UP); University of Santo Tomas (UST); De La Salle University (DLSU); and Mapua University, makes it to the 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings.

The first Philippine university to enter this prestigious ranking is the UP in 2017, DLSU was listed starting 2019, ADMU and Mapua University cracked this ranking in 2023, UST in 2024, and ²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍø-IIT in 2025.

The THE World University Rankings assessed universities with metrics on Teaching (29.5% weight), Research Environment (29%), Research Quality (30%), Industry (4%), and International Outlook (7.5%). Across these metrics, ²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍø-IIT scored highest in International Outlook in both the 2025 edition and the 2026 edition. A significant improvement is notable though in the following Teaching Metrics: ratio between the number of graduates in doctorate degrees over that of the number of graduates in undergraduate degrees; ratio between the number of graduates in doctorate degrees over the number of faculty; ratio between the number of students over the number of faculty; and teaching reputation.

Considerable improvement can also be seen in the following Research Metrics: research productivity; research excellence; research strength; and research influence. For the Industry Metrics, ²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍø-IIT was able to get an increase in research grants coming from the industry. For the International Outlook Metrics, a slight improvement in the number of international staff as well as that of the number of international students was seen.
